A new center for regenerative therapies in Würzburg (Bavaria)

The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology, anounce the creation of a new translational research center “regenerative therapies for cancer and musculoskeletal diseases”, financed with ten million euros, for a five years.
The center is based in Würzburg (Bavaria) and is part of the Fraunhofer Institute for Engineering interfaces and Biotechnology (IGB). It is headed by Prof. Heike Walles, who holds the Chair of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine of the University Clinic Würzburg. The goal is to develop new regenerative therapies and accelerating the transfer of these therapies from the laboratory to the clinic. With this aim, the center is based on an interdisciplinary cooperation between scientists, biotech engineers, materials scientists and physicians already established several institutes.
